Last month ASAP organized our very first symposium! A very lively panel debate took place with several PI’s, the Research Institutes, the Doctoral school, Research Support, the Board of Deans, and many others. This led to fruitful discussions concerning various topics on the sustainability of the PhD system and on keeping PhD candidates happy and productive. We discussed topics such as equality among trajectories, supervision courses, accountability towards funding agencies and universities, mental health issues among PhD candidates, focus on future prospects and career opportunities, and equal working conditions. We were very happy to represent you as the Amsterdam UMC PhD candidate! Also, it was very interesting to hear so many different opinions. We hope that more future collaborations with all invited parties will contribute to create the most optimal work environment for PhD-students of the Amsterdam UMC. And as ASAP we will work hard to accomplish this for you!
